DRESS CODE
Daytime temperatures are generally high in this tropical region, which allows for plenty of unforgettable fun in the sun. Humidity levels are also high, so loose cotton and natural fibres are highly recommended
TIPPING
Tipping is not necessary in Bintan as a 10% service charge and 11% government tax may have been added to your bills at the hotels and restaurants. You need not tip beyond the service charge.
However, if you have received very good service, a small tip is always appreciated.
THINGS TO BRING
A good sun protection, sunglasses, caps/hats and insect repellent are essential. Should you forget any of these, you can purchase them at Bintan Resorts
TRAVEL DOCUMENTS
Your International Passport should be valid for at least six months from the date of arrival. Do bring along proof of onward or return passage.
CUSTOMS CONCESSIONS
Duty-free concessions include a maximum of two litres of alcoholic beverages, 200 cigarettes or 50 cigars or 100gm tobacco and a reasonable amount of perfume.
Photographic equipment, recording equipment and computers must be declared at customs upon entry. Television and radio sets, drugs, arms and ammunition, printed matter in Chinese characters, Chinese medicines, trans-receivers (without advance approval), all uncensored movies and video cassettes, fresh fruits, plants and animals without quarantine permits are prohibited.
CURRENCY
The currency of Indonesia is the Indonesian Rupiah (Rp).
Most hotels accept Visa, MasterCard and American Express credit card payments. Should you be heading down south to other areas in Bintan island for sightseeing or shopping, it is advisable to have ready notes and coins in Indonesian Rupiah.
There are 2 banks located in Pujasera with ATM facility, Mandiri Bank and Bank Internasional Indonesia. There is also an ATM along the Ruko (just next to Pujasera) Shophouse operated by Bank Central Asia.
Money changers are also available at Bandar Bentan Telani (BBT) Ferry Terminal, Plaza Lagoi, and at some resorts such as Nirwana Gardens and Bintan Lagoon Resort.
TELECOMMUNICATIONS
Bintan Resorts has modern telecommunication facilities, including IDD, facsimile/data lines and card-operated payphones. Local calls can be made with phone cards. Internet connectivity is available at most Bintan Resorts hotels
POTABLE WATER
Tap water from all Bintan Resorts hotels meets World Health Organization standards for potable water. This means it is safe to drink water straight from the taps at Bintan Resorts
MEDICAL CARE
Medical needs are catered for by an on-site clinic, with doctors on call 24 hours a day, and supported by a highly efficient emergency evacuation system.
